Governor Issues New Executive Order Prohibiting Events of Over 50 People

Last evening, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed a new Executive Order to prohibit all events over 50 people or assemblages in shared indoor spaces of over 50 people beginning at 9:00 a.m. this morning, March 17, and remaining in effect until April 5 at 5:00 p.m. This new order replaces an earlier E.O. issued last Friday that banned assemblages of more than 250 people. It comes on the heels of a new CDC Guidance posted over the weekend recommending limiting events to less that 50 people. MFDA has obtained clarification that this limitation is to be applied on the per-room (as opposed to a per-building) basis. This limit has the force of law and is sanctionable as a misdemeanor. A copy of this new Executive Order is linked here.
