Obituary for Mary Alice Wheeler

Mary Wheeler a resident of Lakeshore Drive in Calumet passed away at her home on Wednesday December 7, 2022.
She was born on August 31, 1943 in Ann Arbor, daughter of the late Bill and Alice (Thors) Wheeler.
She attended the Sacred Heart School and graduated from Calumet high school in 1961.
She received her Bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University and went on to teach in Flushing, Michigan, Clinton, Wisconsin and a year at Sacred Heart Elementary school. Most of her teaching career was spent at Ewen Trout Creek School.
She is a member of the St. Paul the Apostle Church in Calumet and the Altar Society.
She enjoyed the outdoors canoeing, agate collecting, flower gardening, and visiting with friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Bill and Robert.
Surviving are a son Michael (Jennifer) Ojala of Calumet, two grandsons, Travis and Matthew.
Special friend Wayne Henry.
A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday December 13, 2022 at 5:30 PM at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with Fr. Gracious Pulimoottil to officiate.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-5:30 PM in the funeral home.
The Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
