Obituary for Marvin Donald Hopf

Marvin D. Hopf, 81, a resident of Hubbell, passed away on Thursday February 20, 2020 at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium.

He was born on April 25, 1938 in Alma, Wisconsin to Gordon and Clara (Scott) Hopf. He attended the local schools and graduated from Alma High School with the Class of 1957. After graduation Marvin attended the Buffalo County Teachers College and then taught for 2 years in Clinton, Wisconsin. After that, he went to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where he received his Bachelors Degree in Education and then moved to Lake Linden in 1964 to teach. During his summers, he attended Northern Michigan University where he earned his Masters Degree in Education in 1973. Marvin retired from teaching school in 1992. He later instructed for Drive America until 2009.

On August 10, 1963, he was united in marriage to Elenore Brommer in Modena, Wisconsin.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Laurium, Lake Linden Lions Club, Lake Linden Sportsman’s Club and Foresters North Court #17.

He is survived by:
His wife: Elenore of Hubbell;

His sons: Tim (Tina) Hopf of Mechanic Falls, Maine;
Tommy Hopf of Phoenix, Arizona and
Terence “Terry” Hopf of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

His daughters: Tammy Hopf of Tempe, Arizona and
Tracy Hopf (Mhmoud) of Wixom, MI.

5 Grandchildren, Elizabeth, Martin, Benjamin, Tara and Kristin. 2 Step- grandchildren, whom he always felt as his own, Jeffrey “JJ” and Amanda “Mandy” Laitila.
5 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Friday February 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow at the Siskiwit Reception Hall.

Visitation will be held at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-7 pm.

Burial will take place in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
