Jake William Edward Kesti, left this realm and floated on, on Sunday, September 22, 2019. He is survived by his Grandparents William and Mary Tolkkinen, father Douglas Carl Kesti, mother Susan Aileen Tolkkinen, brothers Brian, Luke, Bruce, and sister, Jill Kesti; also survived by former wife Tina Shultz, their children Jacob and Darian Kesti, his former wife Amanda Kesti, their children Greta, RuthAnna, Kaiväa, and William Kesti. Girlfriend Alicia Heikkel and her son Xavier. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Edward and Anna Kesti, and his uncle Donald (Peter) Kesti. He also has many extended relatives on both sides of his family tree who loved him.

Jake was born in Hancock on January 28, 1979. He attended CLK schools and graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1999. Jake was a talented goalie and excelled at travel and house leagues as a child, being named #1 Regional Goalie in Juniors, and played rentals. Jake was an accomplished carpenter, working at Moyle and with local contractors; his work can be seen throughout the Keweenaw. Jake loved to play pool and horseshoes, he played for North End 2 team. He loved to be in nature, fishing with his kids, he loved swimming in Lake Superior, no matter the weather. He loved being with friends and family, his brothers and sister are his best friends. He was a big lover of music, always listening to his favorite tunes, laughing, joking, smiling.

Jake’s greatest accomplishments are his children. All six are his happiness and brought him pure joy. Jake “caught” the four of his younger children with his wife, Amanda, being her deliverer at home birth. He made sure his children were born into the safety and love of their father’s hands. It defined him as a father and husband and were his proudest moments. His children mean the most to him and he loved them all with everything, his whole being.

Funeral services will be on Saturday September 28, 2019 at the Erickson Crowley funeral home, in Calumet. Visitation 10 - 11 am, service 11am with George Newman officiating. Celebration of Life at Jake's favorite spot, Buckys, to follow.

In Jakes words: “We’ll all float on alright

We’ll all float on okay

Dont worry, even if things get heavy

We’ll all float on alright

Now don't you worry, we’ll all float on

We’ll all float on…..

A long, (very) lost relative, sending your family condolences from afar. I saw this via the page and the Kesti name caught my eye. Kesti was my mother's maiden name (Senia). She was a daughter of Edward and Anna as well. She was married to my Dad, Arthur (Gordon) Hauring. So, my maiden name was Hauring. Both my folks have passed many, many years ago. Anyway, wanted to reach out and send you all my condolences. It's so hard to lose family, I know. God bless.
