Obituary for Bonnie Carol Smith

Bonnie Smith, 75, a resident of Houghton passed away on Tuesday March 19, 2019 at the Omega House in Houghton.
She was born on September 26, 1943 in Calumet a daughter of the late James and Margaret (Zadravetz) Whitford.
Bonnie graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1961.
After school Bonnie moved to Chicago where she worked until 2002 when she retired and moved back to the Copper Country. Locally she worked as a secretary at McGrath Roofing in Houghton.
Bonnie always loved to travel, seeing new places and good entertainment.
She was generous to a fault especially to her grandsons.
Spending time with family and friends was always a priority to her.
While she moved to the Chicago area after high school, her ties to the UP continued with her always bringing her son and friends up to show them the beauty of the Keweenaw. She eventually returned to the UP to live out her final years. She always told her son “Never forget were you came from.”
Surviving are: Her Son Mark Smith of Crystal Lake, Illinois
3 Grandchildren: Connor, Nolan and Grant
Sisters: Mary “Sissy” Metish of Bark River, MI
Geri Hall of Ahmeek
Sharon (Brent) Bonini of Lake Linden
1 niece and 7 nephews.
Private services will be held and the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet is assisting the family with the arrangements.
